National Hockey League (NHL) was organized in 1917 in Montreal, Canada, and initially included four teams. Today the league consists of 30 with players from Canada, US, and Europe. 24 teams are based in US, and 6 in Canada, but most league players are still Canadians. NHL regular season starts in November, and finishes in the beginning of April. Each team plays 82 games, half of which are at home. Teams are grouped in Western, and Eastern Conferences, each of which consists of 5-team divisions.

NBA (National Basketball Association), professional American basketball league, consists now of 29 US teams, and 1 Canadian team. The league was founded in 1946 as Basketball Association of America, and in 1949 the league adopted its current name. The league is divided into two conferences, each containing 3 divisions. Eastern Conference includes Atlantic, Central, and Southeast divisions. Western Conference is comprised of Pacific, Northwest, and Southwest divisions. There are 5 teams in a division.

There are two conferences of NFL teams: AFC (American Football Conference) and NFC (National Football Conference). Each conference consists of four divisions, which includes four teams, and are called North, South, East, and West. League’s regular season usually starts in September, and ends in December of each year. Each team has sixteen games in regular season.
